Carrbridge News officially launched on the 26th of September 2009. The initiative was devised as a response to the lack of any news sharing platform in the village. Carrbridge Films, local entirely youth run film company, decided to spearhead a new, innovative, independent news sharing media production which - contrasting greatly with the previously traditional print newsletter - would present the news in a quarterly digital video news programme.
The first episode was presented online here at www.carrbridgenews.co.uk on the 30th October 2009 and was hailed as a great success - encapsulating local news and presenting it in an interesting and easily digestible way.
The project continues to be produced entirely by local young people with the entire process of script writting, production and online presentation being managed by the team also responsible for Carrbridge Films.
Originally, the project's sole intention was to produce the quarterly programmes but shortly after the first episode was released the decision was made to also publish written content online, meaning those returning to the website between programmes would not be disappointed by a lack of news. This addition has had a marked effect on the overall appeal of the project with a great increase in interest from those outwith the village and the addition of social media as part of the news sharing process has been of great benefit.
